Brooke W. Quist

Brooke Quist's practice focuses on domestic and foreign intellectual property, including patent preparation and prosecution, litigation, preparation of patent invalidity and non-infringement opinions, client counseling, strategic portfolio development, due diligence investigations, and licensing, as well as other transactional intellectual property matters.

Brooke counsels clients in patent law, trademark law, copyright law, and related intellectual property matters. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1992 and his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997.

Brooke has substantial patent experience that extends to a variety of fields, including computer systems, including hardware components, software applications, computer networks, operating systems, peripheral devices, user interfaces, and data management systems; optical systems; Internet-related technology; encryption, authentication, identification, and data security systems; telecommunications technology, including smartphone technology and satellite systems; film processing and post-processing technology, multimedia collaboration, and distribution systems; casino gaming technology; mechanical devices, including sporting equipment and medical instruments; and material processing and structure, including semiconductors, composites, and advanced metallic materials.

Before joining Seed IP, Brooke was a partner at a leading Washington, D.C. general practice firm, where he specialized in IP matters. Prior to practicing law, he was a senior engineer in the Northrop Corporation's Aircraft Division in Hawthorne, California. As a research and design engineer, Brooke concentrated on developing structural concepts and designs utilizing advanced materials, structures, and forming techniques for commercial and military applications. He also assisted in programming and implementing variation simulation analysis for computer-assisted aircraft production.

Brooke serves on the Executive Committee of the Washington State Bar Association IP Section. He is admitted to Washington and California's state bars and is registered to practice before the United States Patent &Trademark Office. He is a member of the Washington State Patent Law Association(WSPLA) and the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA).

Additionally, Brooke lectures on U.S. patent practice at the University of Washington's renowned Center for Advanced Study and Research on Innovation Policy (CASRIP). He is also a member of the Seattle Executives Association and C3 Business Leaders. Furthermore, Brooke is on the Business Development Committee for the Aerospace Futures Alliance and Washington State Space Coalition.
